Artist's Comments

this was totally spontaneous. i was listening to one of my favourite songs, Come On by The Verve, and this verse that i've loved for such a long time gave me the impulse to illustrate it.

I must be feeling low
I talked to God in a phonebox on my way home
I told you my answer
I left you my dreams on your answer machine Lord...

the blending was a bitch, i hope i got it right.

Hehe as soon as i looked at this piece it made me smile and i don't even know why!

I love the unusual and interesting assemblage of stocks, it inspires me as a photomanipulater to see such innovation. I love the different stock and the background blending is amazing. And looking closely i think that the phone box/model is well blended also.

However, the white part covering the models head. Looking at it for this critique it occurs to me that it might be glass but i still think it stick out s alittle too much. For me i also think the contrast is a little too harsh.

But as i said i love the experimental nature of the piece and i love the arrangement of stocks.
The Artist thought this was FAIR

I lift my lips from kissing you
To kiss the sky
Cloud soft and blue
And slow the sun melts down
Into your golden words for me

The color is lovely in this and don't worry, the blending looks great.
Nice job.

Very good...

If you see nature (in it's whole glory) as God you know, everything you leave out in nature (footsteps, tears, laughs, just anything that causes the smallest change in the smallest part of nature is your input...) what you leave there, proof of you being part of it... the things you leave behind as a whole tell your story...

it's truly a nice found metaphor Ashcroft found to kind of visualise your path of life (at least that's how I started seeing it since a few minutes ago) in Come On

You made the step to really visualise the lyrics your own way, actually combining technology as the telephone and the nature in contrast, the world surrounding you...

Amazing piece of art, truly amazing!

thank you so much for this comment! I've always found this verse incredibly interesting and this is something I've never done before, to take a few lyrics and try to portrait them. I'm glad I managed to make it thought-provoking.

thank you! i'm glad you found the blending good. it was hard to make it look remotely realistic. (well ignoring the fact that phone-boxes can't really be found on the top of the mountain :giggle:)
